Inter – disciplinary session or teaching is an approach, in which teachers of one department are assigned to teach the group of students of different department by doing these kinds of session, Students will get to know about the subject or topics which they don’t study in their curriculum. Students who are regularly exposed to classroom conversations and assignment will now be able to get a precise knowledge about different topics, theories, methodologies and perspectives. Exploring topics across a range of subject boundaries motivates students to pursue new knowledge in different subject areas.

An Inter-disciplinary session was organized for the students of dept. of Computer Science. The session was hosted by Mrs. Piyali Ghosh Hore, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Education. The topic of the session was “Defense Mechanism”. She explained in details about how we use defense mechanism in our day to day life. An automatic way of behaving or thinking by which we protect ourselves physically or mentally is known as defense mechanism. Example of physical mechanism is sweating, winking, tears and immunity. Examples of mental defense mechanism are Denial displacement, repression, reaction formation, rationalization, projection, sublimation and regression. Each and every type and example of defense mechanism was thoroughly explained by Piyali Mam. The session was interactive and all students responded very actively. Students liked the session as it was expressed and explained using the examples of our daily life activities. Students were very happy for attending such an informative seminar. Students also gave the feedback in written format.
